Does Child Sponsorship Even Work?

Does $38 a month really make an impact on a child’s life?

The idea of sponsoring a child isn’t new. Many organizations have done it for many years. One of the main differences that separates LifeLink International is the educational aspect. We should ask the question, does the system even work? And the answer is a resounding YES!

According to researchers from the University of San Francisco, sponsored children are more likely to attend college, have salaried employment, and become leaders in their community. Here is an excerpt from the report published in University of Chicago’s Journal of Political Economy.

“[Sponsorships] impacts on the educational outcomes are larger in those countries with lower baseline education outcomes, the two African countries, while impacts in Latin America and Asia are smaller, although still statistically significant. Similarly, in countries where baseline schooling is higher for boys, child sponsorship tends to have a bigger impact on girls; where it is higher for girls, it has a bigger impact on boys.”
What does this mean? It means LifeLink International and everyone involved is making a long lasting impact on the community of Sandino Nicaragua.
