Opportunity comes in many different forms at The LifeLink School in Nicaragua. For a small group of students they are fulfilling their dreams of learning an instrument and playing in a marching band. Meet the Centro Escolar LifeLink Drum Corps. Our drum corps consists of boys in the sixth and seventh grades. They perform in local parades and for special assemblies at the school.
They have a passion for playing that fuels their desire to practice, some days arriving at 6:30am, other days practicing in skyrocketing temperatures in the afternoon. They show pride in their equipment, working to raise their own money among themselves to help put the LifeLink logo on their drums.
Recently the drum corps performed for a visiting group on one of the hottest days so far in Nicaragua. The sound of the beating drums brought tears for some observers and chills for others. Opportunity beating strong to the mesmerizing rhythm played by children who are fulfilling their dreams.
This is how you change a nation, one drum beat at a time. We appreciate everyone who makes these dreams come true.
