Everyone will leave a story behind after they die. It may be happy memories shared by loved ones, or the pain of unspoken words. Some legacies are simply forgotten over time.
So what’s my legacy?
The truth is I don’t really know that just yet. I want to leave more behind than simply being a good person. The world has tons a good people, but the world is still falling apart.
To leave a legacy do something for somebody who can never pay you back. –Mike Turner, LifeLink International
I may not know exactly what my legacy will be, but here’s what I do know:
1) I know I want to be someone who cares for and helps the poor. Sometimes my worldview gets a little too small and my definition of poor needs a dose of reality.
This is house we saw today and there were at least a hundred just like it.
2) I want to be generous with my time, money, skills, etc.
3) I want my worldview to ALWAYS be growing. It can be so easy to settle into my own comfortable little corner of life and pretend the rest of the world doesn’t matter.
It does.
I don’t know what people will be saying about me after I’m gone. I hope it’s good, but more than anything, I hope my legacy stands for more than me—who I am. I hope my legacy causes others to look beyond themselves.
